Three New Paul Langan Books for Fall/Winter 2024

Paul Langan 2024 Books

I am happy to announce that I will have three books completed by the end of 2024. It has been an interesting year, as I have many projects (books, music, theatre) on the go but unfortunately few are getting to the finish line! Here are the three books I will get done in time.

Orval Shaw - The Bandit of Skunk's Misery - Without a doubt the most interesting historical topic I have researched. It is a chronological review and it has been a challenge to get all the information. How Orval Shaw, the petty thief, from near Bothwell, Ontario became the object of the biggest police hunt in the history of the province at the time, is fascinating. It should be a Hollywood movie. Hope to be in Bothwell in October for the book release event at the historic Bothwell town hall Jim Kish Theatre.

Dolores Carroll - Windsor's Siren of Song -  This will be my third in a series of Windsor musicians/singers from the 1950's  and 1960's that time has forgotten. Dolores's daughters are helping me put this booklet together. Anybody whose 1st single has The Four Tops backing her in 1955 is a legend in my books.

Hespeler Unseen - The Weir Sisters and Coombe Series Photographs 1900-1935. During the last two decades of doing local history I came across two sets of photos, the majority of which, have never been seen the public. The Weir sisters photos, shows the sisters posing in different parts of Hespeler in the early 1900's. I found these photos unique for the time. Included with some historic photos is photos of the location of the photo today.

The Coombe Series were take around 1905-1910 in Hespeler. A photographer came over from Ireland to take photos of Hespeler as Smyly Homes, Dublin Ireland opened up a receiving home for Irish youth to come to. These had been in an archive in a church in Ireland til I uncovered them in 2000.

Thanks everyone for supporting me and I am sorry it has been a slow year for finishing projects than it has been in the past. Sometimes it does take time for ideas to become reality.
